HOW ANIMALS MOVE

Bracchiation – Swinging through the trees by one's arms, overhand, from branch to branch, as the apes (especially the gibbons and orangutans) and spider monkeys do.

Digitigrade – A way of describing animals that walk on their toes (like birds and horses).

Fly   To move through the air on purpose to get from one place to another, usually using wings; several different kinds of animals, from insects to birds to bats, have wings and can fly.

Plantigrade – A way of describing animals that walk on the flat part of their feet, like bears and humans

Swim – To move in the water on purpose to get from one place to another; many animals swim, but the way they swim differs a lot.

Walk – To move on the land on purpose using legs to push an animal from one place to another one step at a time.
